After beating it into submission, the final result looks nice and feels sturdy. The instructions are almost too simplified with not very detailed pictures only and no description. Most of the time that's fine, except there was one step that we just couldn't figure out what they meant so we skipped it. Not everything fit together very well, and we had to force it together, sometimes chipping some paint off. If you're up for a work out and have a good rubber mallet, it's not bad for the price.I love this shoe bench. It's sturdy and looks exactly the way its shown in the picture. It's perfect for the doorway of a small apartment.However, assembly was very difficult because the instructions were awful. There are only pictures in the instruction manual (no words) and they don't closely resemble the actual pieces of the furniture. We assembled it incorrectly once and had to take the whole thing apart. We got it right the second time. Be careful where you place the backboard relative to the other pieces. The way it is shown in the manual is incorrect.My husband wanted to put this together because he's very handy, but I wanted to do it myself. It was very easy to assemble with the directions included. The product is sturdy and looks great!I ordered this for my parents and they haven’t been able to even assemble it.
